Signal49 Research has led a major research and development program on governance and board issues for more than 30 years. The core principles and values that guide leading organizations transcend national boundaries, corporate traditions and legal frameworks, and contribute to stronger organizational performance. The Governance Ideabook Second Edition looks at a dozen examples of Canadian public and private sector organizations that excel in governance practices. These case studies were drawn from entries to Signal49 Research/Spencer Stuart National Awards in Governance, including three winners: Clarica, in the Overall and Private Sector categories; Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in the Public Sector category; and, Easter Seals Ontario in the Not-for-Profit Sector. These awards are given out in conjunction with the Board’s annual governance conference, to encourage innovation and excellence in governance practices by showcasing leading examples.
