Multiple Sclerosis in the Workplace: Supporting Successful Employment Experiences

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a significant health and economic issue in Canada. Decreased workforce participation from people living with MS is often detrimental to the health and financial situation of people living with the disease, as well as to their families and primary caregivers. In addition, lost productivity associated with the disease may cost Canada hundreds of millions of dollars per year. The report explores these issues and summarizes recommended actions required by stakeholders to support better quality of life and productivity among individuals with MS, as well as their caregivers.

The information and insights in this report were derived from two main phases of research. The first phase, a literature review, resulted in a discussion guide. This was used as the starting point for the second phase of research that consisted of a facilitated stakeholder workshop, held in late 2015. Together, the results from both of these phases provide the basis for this report.
